Sanitary Pump – Features, Uses, and Manufacturer

A Centrifugal Sanitary Pump is a machine used to transfer quantities of fluids from one place to another. These machines apply kinetic energy stored in the motor to move the liquids. The main function of these pumps is to move the product and cause the liquid to flow at a desired speed and force.

However, the categorization differs; for process Application Sanitary type pumps are generally used. Sanitary Pumps type falls into the category where every component is cleanable and free from any source of contamination.

Centrifugal (Sanitary) pumps find their applications in pumping all types of low viscosity fluids at moderate pressure. They can also easily handle liquids having high proportions of suspended solids present in them. These pumps are mostly used in the dairy and food processing industry. Its usage mainly focuses on low-viscosity products, but it cannot handle heavily aerated liquids.

How does a Sanitary Pump work?

A centrifugal pump consists of wheel-carrying vanes, called Impeller which revolves in an outer enclosure called Casing. Liquid enters the pump at its center, technically known as the Eye, and discharges tangentially. The pressure head developed by the sanitary pump is entirely due to the angular velocity imparted by the impeller, which is subsequently transformed into the head by the specific construction of the casing. Pump efficiency depends largely on the casing design, i.e. outer enclosure.

Cavitation occurs when the pressure in the suction line is too low as compared to the vapor pressure of the pumped liquid. Cavitation in pumps results in reduced head and lesser efficiency. As cavitation increases, the pump gradually stops pumping. Goma Centrifugal Pumps are fabricated by using High-Quality Raw Material of SS 316 for the impeller.
